When Hagar walked into her first Anusara Yoga class, it was love at first pose. The teachings moved her so deeply into her own heart, and immediately created the desire to share the wonders with others. And the journey began...

She has been continually studying with some of the leading teachers of Anusara, including Noah Maze, Naime Jezzeny and founder John Friend, and is so grateful for the many wonderful teachers she has. She is constantly deepening her studies of the many aspects of the tradition of Yoga. In particular, she finds great interest in the Tantric Philosophy. She holds special gratitude in her heart for her philosophy teacher Douglas Brooks - a world renown scholar of Hindu Tantra.

Hagar's passion for yoga and for life, creates a warm, welcoming environment for her students. She loves teaching both raw beginners as well as very advanced practitioners. Her style is inclusive, refreshing, inspiring and playful. She weaves into her classes stories from the Hindu mythology, as well as stories from her own life, and presents profound and complex philosophical concepts in a simple and honest way. She sees both the practice and the teaching of yoga as an art form, which opens her up to see everything in life as an opportunity for inspiration and growth. Her students enjoy a safe space of exploration and expression.

Hagar finds great joy in teaching yoga for kids and teenagers. Her playfulness and creativity invite the kids to embrace themselves and others, and to confront issues that challenge them in their lives and practice. She has been running the kids program at Mission St Yoga since 2005. While teaching private sessions for kids, families, and kids with special needs, Hagar also specializes in working with older people. "You are never too old to do yoga," she says, "Yoga can be done with anyone who is interested if it's done appropriately." She loves watching the older crowd finding new hope and the willingness to keep evolving and transforming through the practice. She is very experienced in applying the principles of alignment and works with those in need of Yoga Therapy - people with injuries, cancer, and other illnesses.

Her intention is to nourish her students with the fertile soil her teachers always offer her - a ground of self empowerment, open heartedness, and authenticity.
